If you're invited into the home of someone whose culture is that you remove you shoes before entering, you may find this custom ridiculous or even offensive. A civilised person has two alternatives:
a) politely comply with the custom in the interest of harmonious relations, or
b) politely decline to enter.

Good point Snuffy. But the question is, who determines what the culture of this place will be? Max has created this site, and his creation includes the possibility of there being anonymous guests. So... are you going to gracefully comply, or are you going to decline to enter?
