"The Ukraine?" I asked "Oh, please tell me you are joking.."
"No," he said "It's the only way. Medical schools get thousands of applications from middle class white guys, you have to have a hook."
"So you are joining a Ukranian circus? That's a helluva hook..."
"It's not forever, Jen. I just have to do 'something'. I'll miss you, but I'll be back in a year or two.."
The decision was made that quickly. I decided to do something too. That was the day I decided to learn how to juggle, in case I ever needed to join the circus.
