I've never had problems with Tripod over here, either. Sometimes it was a little slow, but not since we've gone to cable access. If I remember right, they allow 50 mb FREE and I think you can pay a small fee for more. I chose them on Jon's recommendation and have been very happy with them. The do allow ftp's.
