Thread Name: Lyr Add: Ag Pleez Daddy (Jeremy Taylor)
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Ag Pleez Daddy
G'day,

I seem to remember some discussion of Jeremy Taylor's wonderful (and trenchant) songs of South Africa and beyond a year or two back. I may have contributed the words of Jobsworth (almost the anthem of my days with a working band, really).

Jeremy toured Australia in 1979 and I have a cassette tape compiled from (broadcasts of) his concerts in Adelaide, South Australia and Perth, Western Australia. The tracks on this tape are:
Dr Barnard's Driver (comedy routine),
Transplant Calypso (song)
Immorality Act (song)
Lift Girl's Lament (song)
Ag Pleez Daddy (song)
Republic Day Calypso (song)
All Along the South Coast (song, set in England)
Love on the Sands (song, set in England)
Love California Style (song)
Jobsworth (song)
You Know! (poem, England?)
Made in Holland (song)
When You've Gone out of your Mind (song – parody of Windmills of the Mind)
The Swan Brewery Props (Jeremy – definitely not drinking the props from the sponsor)
Prawns in the Game (song based on Union Leaders' speeches)
Donkeys' Charter (song about Blackpool, England)
Winter Song (more serious song about Blackpool)
Pommy Bastard (Jeremy's take on local attitudes
Irene Goodnight (end of concert).

If you can't find the words elsewhere, to some of these beaut songs, I could get in and dig them out (so far as I can understand his Afrikaans numbers).

Regards,

Bob Bolton
