I'm old enough that I witnessed the bad effects of McCarthyism at its worst. I felt the fear. I saw, firsthand, the pain and suffering of the blacklist. The experience caused me to evaluate my friends, to pick and choose what and where I sang, which songs I did or didn't sing. (don't assume which way I chose, as you don't know me yet).
