Can Quicktime do sheet music/score writing?

I have a Powerbook G3 and am primarily interested in being able to play the tune and generate the printed music and/or quickly/easily create a lyric sheet with chords.

I bought Band-In-A-Box about a year ago, before I got a computer powerful enough for it to be useful. I bought it for the other side of the music process, specifically for creating demo CD's with sampled sounds. Either I misplaced it or someone stole it, unopened, so I'm not sure whether it can do the printed music creation or not.

What I need for sheet music creation is, ideally, something that can generate music as complex as 4-part harmony with, say, piano accompaniment (e.g., for a choir). It does not have to be suitable for symphonic arrangements, since most of what I will be transcribing is folk music or other music that is relatively simple.

Several years ago, I used someone else's Quick Time music composition program on a PC, and it was OK. Is there a Mac version and does it work well (easy to use, etc.). I have also played around with Overture and have not gotten the hang of that yet (plus, they have been bought),

Advertisements are OK, but I am really seeking personal testimonials about what works or does not, what is or is not a good value, etc.
