What always bucks me up is thinking about a 'fact' that I spotted in a contemporary report on pollution circa 1890. It stated, quite categoricaly, that no-one would be able to venture onto the streets of London in 50 years time due to the massive build up of horse muck! Now remeber that really was a known fact at the time. A team of qualified scientists and some of the top brains in the country proved it.
Things are bad. Feel sadness for those lost but look to the future. Keep up your optimism, Bagpuss. You are right to look on the bright side. The gloomy nay-sayers are the same as those Victorian emminent scientists and cannot see part the end of their own nose! :-)
