One thing struck me looking at that first version Parks gave -

Foller the drinkin' gou'd,
Foller the drinkin' gou'd;
No one know, the wise man say,
"Foller the drinkin' gou'd."

- it sounds like a fragment of a Christmas Carol, wise men following the star...
