And a couple of days ago I was talking to a friend in Oregon: seems he was stuck in traffic and observed a woman who appeared to be foreign-born (at least she was wearing some sort of foreign-looking clothing) being verbally harassed by a redneck. She rolled down the window and shot him the bird (aka "the sailor's farewell") and was roundly applauded by the people around her in the traffic jam. Ya gotta love America: often vulgar, sort of funny but on the main good-hearted...
