Thread Name: Ingleton Folk Weekend Oct 5/7
Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend Oct 5/7
Well, got back about 2pm - could not make this afternoons session due to prior commitments. Enjoyed the rest of the weekend enormously. Met Kendall, Morticia and Gomez at Forton Services on the M6. One of those odd coincidences. They had a horrendous journey from the south with the M6 traffic delaying them for hours. I set off at about 6:30pm and rang them at which point in time they were near Keele. I was then delayed by my friend, Ged, who decided he fancied coming along. I was happy to wait for him so we got underway at about 7:20-ish.

Just coming up to Forton and I rang Morticia. Gomez answered and told me they were just approaching Forton as well! So - distance gap of some 250 miles. Time gap of over six hours setting off. Traffic delays on the motorway. Other delays elsewhere - what were the chances of us being on the same mile of motorway at the same time?!?!?

Anyhow - we got there just in time for the final dance at the ceilidh in the village square. Repaired to the Wheatsheaf afterwards and had a bit of pub crawl around Ingleton. Kendall and I both left earlier than the rest (after a false start by Kendall but I shan't mention that...;-)) and we waited in the Caravan for the others to return. When they eventualy arrived they were like drowned rats so we decided that tea, coffee and a couple of bottles of Captain Morgan spiced rum would be in order. At 3:30am after lots of singing we decided it would be a good idea to get some sleep. Besides, the rum bottles were empty!

Saturday - picked up Naemansons daughter, Kelli (Lana on the Mudcat). She is a credit to you, Brett. Found it quite amusing that her and Kendall live in the same state and knew each other but had to cross the Atlantic to meet!

The outside displays were brilliant. Morris dancers, clog steppers, jugglers and all. Met Noreen and FOG over the course of the afternoon. Didn't make the concert (The weather was too nice anyway!) The session in the Wheatsheaf was going very nicely when I decided I needed some zee's. Managed to wake up on time to get to the the Marton on Saturday night and listened to some fine musicians and singers, saw some more dancing and made new friends.

Woke up more refreshed this morning and we made our farewells. Noreen and Phil were staying - keep us posted on how it went. Let us know how the rest of it went and if it achieved its goal as well, Carol.

I can't make Llanstock I'm afraid because I am going to York races so next chance of meet? Swinton of course! Plenty of opportunity for mudatters to meet at the singarounds.

And anyone who fancied going to Ingleton but couldn't make it btw - Swinton Hardy Intrepid Trecking Society (SHITS for short) Meet there every February for fun and frolicks. Or something like that. Watch this space.

Cheers
