Yep, good weekend for a first effort. It was set up because other fund raising events during the summer were cancelled because of foot & mouth. Hope they do it again next year, but some fine tuning needed. Brilliant singaround at the OLD HILL INN (7 miles out of town!) on Saturday, but the evening session at the MARTON ARMS was not condusive to singing due to the background noise (found in most public bars)but was OK for the musicians. No one to act as m.c. at any of the sessions but that was no problem. Sunday afternoon, some great sessions with several groups who had their own p.a. The HORROCKS FAMILY did two fabulous sessions at the Ex Servicemens Club. They had mega pa gear but were only advertised as a 12.00 to 1.00 slot. This was good but they did another unadvertised session later (having brought all their gear) which had an audience of one, me! Great concert from Kate Rusby, but she declined to do an encore (first concert), not compulsary of course, but I thought this was a bit of a snub! The weather? well it could have been worse.
