Thread Name: Ingleton Folk Weekend Oct 5/7
Subject: RE: Ingleton Folk Weekend Oct 5/7

Could only get up from Sunday morning - as already said it could be good ground work for the future but some thought into the one venue/one artist didn't work too well.... Popped into see Kinin who were great as usual but the crowds they deserve didn't turn up! maybe they were too far out of town? As I'm not aware of the poltics of the organisers/venues I'm not sure if there's a reason for only one act per venue (in most cases!) and not 3/4 acts rotating around the venues - maybe less venues or more artists - didn't find any singaround although we were invited to start one - the venue was virtualy empty and our stomachs were as well! as the venue had decided not to put on meals that day!!!!

So we set off to try another venue - more people this time - only one "group" though and what's more food - so after breakfast/dinner/tea (and a few pints!) we set off back to dear old Lancashire.....

I hope no one thinks I'm knocking the event - yes it wasn't Sidmouth, Fylde or one the many other established events but to those very few people who were at the 1st Fylde Festival - who would have thought that would have expanded so well? but only then from a lot of work and listening to artists and festival goers.....

To the organisers - WELL DONE! - now start planning the next one - look to the other festivals and build on what they have found works, maybe more artists at each location or less venues and run singarounds at some of the others - there's plenty of people willing to help - maybe a few stewards would be handy - to advise on what's going on (especially to those poor (non-Folky) visitor that looked totally confused!).

verdict would go again........
