Some of these lamenters remind me of a quote from Shakespere:

Sweet are the uses of adversity,
Which, like a toad, ugly and venemous
Wears yet a precious jewel in its head.

This is our life, exempt from public haunt
We find tongues in trees, books in running brooks,
Sermons in stone, and good in everything,
I would not change it.
