Just to elaborate a bit......

Mark this as strictly "Personal Opinion"....okay?

Let's say you get to thinking about something or have a question about it. First thing that might be worth a try is to check the "Digitrad and Forum Search" by using a keyword and seeing what comes up. Let's say you find nothing....start a thread. If you do find some pertinent info, decide whether you just want to read it, add a comment to the thread, or start a new one. If it's a lyrics search thread or song research, it's probably best to add to the existing thread....just keeps it all in one place and more convenient.

If it's a help, BS, or other kind of thread and it doesn't answer your thoughts, start another one. You may have found 3 or 4 threads that touch on your problem/idea/thought/whatever, but none of them are really right. When you start the new thread, say whatever it is that's on your mind and link the previous threads, noting that there is some info there, but you'd still like to discuss it.

Bob.....You started a thread about picks that you opened with a quick one liner which we are beginning to get used to around here. When Allan C. came back with a previous thread saying we'd discussed it earlier, he didn't mean it was a dead subject, but one that has been discussed and the old thread is worth reading. We've had a lot of people comment on subjects and not acknowledging what they have said in the past suggests that maybe I shouldn't bother with what you say now. I'm interested in your comments......and I'm also interested in the older comments as well. See, I feel it's the same thing as someone posting to a thread without reading the other posts......Kinda' like saying "mine is the only opinion that matters" isn't it?

So sometimes when I enter a new thread that someone has started, I'll first say, "Here's the link(s) to some past threads." I'm not trying to kill the new thread, but simply to add some past info and also link them together for the future. Sometimes people think those of us who do that are trying to be thread police or something when in reality we're just paying a little respect to some of the great things that have been posted here in the past. Doesn't mean the new thread is worse or dumb, but simply a continuum.

Where this does get aggravating though is when a thread is posted to a subject that has several threads on it already......The classic case being the "Songcatcher" movie threads where it seemed that everytime anybody saw the movie or read about it, they started another thread. I think we have 10 or 11 of them now. It makes it hard to keep ideas and info together.

Alright, this is too damn long already.......Say Hi to Glenda.
