Thread Name: Lyr Req: A stor a stor a ghra
Subject: Lyr Add: A STOR A STOR A GHRA
Don't know if there are any gaelic speakers out there who can help. I'm looking for an English Translation of this song and also help with one line that appears on the track by Triona ni McDonnail on the CD Celtic voice that isn't on the lyrics I've got. Theis is what I have....

Chorus

A stor a stor a ghra, a stor an dtiocfaidh tu?

Verses

Bhi me la brea samhraidh i mo sheasamh ar an mhargadh
'S is iomai fear a duirt liom "Monuar, gan tu sa bhaile agam"

Gheall mo ghra domsa cinnte go dtiocfadh si
ni raibh a culaith deanta agus sin a rud a choinnigh i

Ta an t-uisce ag teacht on Eirne is ta an fear ag teacht o neamh chugainn
Ta utha na mbo a reabadh ar mheid is ta de bhainne acu

Thart toin an gharrai a Mhaire bhfuil an fhidil leat?
Aicearra na bpratai go dteimid 'sair fhidileoir

Bhe mise lan den tsaoil is bhi cion amuigh is istigh orm
Nach mor a d'athraigh an saol nuair nach bhfuil coin ag duine ar bith orm?

The missing line of verse no 2 sounds phoenetically like

sca devin a vera cos pol a vin a veraca
Then it goes onto the second line ni raibh a culaith... as in the verse above

I have managed to translate a fair bit but got a bit lost on verse 4 when he seems to suggesting a shortcut to the potatoes warming to a fiddle player ... I gave up then!

Any help very gratefully received

Sarah
