I saw Gene Autry sing this song at the Dublin, Texas, rodeo in about 1944 (just a guess). He was a Warrant Officer in the Airforce at the time. He and Everett Colburn owned a ranch outside of Dublin that supplied rodeo stock to other rodeos. I got him to autograph his picture in uniform in the program, and he began by dedicating the song to Tojo. The Cass County Boys accompanied him. This song was recorded by a lot of recording artists.
