Burke. Thanks! I haven't thought of "Farther Along". It's on Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris's Trio. Sam Cooke sang it. In Rise Up Singing and Songs of Zion, too. Dorothy Horstman says the date was earlier, though:

"This song was written in November 1900 by W.S. Stevens of Queen City, Missouri, shortly after the death of his son. Although the song was created in 1900, it was first published in 1907 in The Holiness Carol Songbook."(Sing Your Heart Out, Country Boy, 3rd ed. (Country Music Foundation Press, 1996, p. 42)
