Ro1sin, I,ve always associated vertigo with heights, as opposed to dizziness, which is more generalised. I'm no expert, but I do believe that it's a lot to do with the middle ear, and the eustachian ( spelling? ) tube. Don't take my word for it though, your doctor spent about 7 years training for his job, trust him/her.
