I didn't realise how unhappy I'd become at work until my early retirement was finalised. Then I felt as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Mind you, if I hadn't been on the treadmill for all those years I wouldn't have paid off the mortgage and earned a reasonable pension so I can (hopefully) enjoy the next stage in my life.
