It's an interesting notion, indeed. But I'd like to see the design.

Organizing the top level of the Federal Gummint to prosecute peace would be one helluvan experiment, and it would be likely to display the seamy side of some of our exalted representatives. It would rule out a lot of big-money players (like the arms dealers, and the military industrial complex types) for one thing. For another, while it is easy to identify weapons of destruction ranging from mano-a-mano to city-leveling daisycutters, it is a lot harder to identify the weapons of peace -- they aren't usually made of steel and IC chips. And it opens the door to realy scary areas like humanity, awareness, win-win solutions, and so forth.

Great idea, but it won't be an easy row to how!
