Well, I just played the first game (C6, C7, Cmaj7) again and played straight through both levels with no misses.

I don't hear any odd inversions as I play the game. The chords seem to sound as they look in the notation. Still, I'm not listening to any particular tone, I'm trying to listen to the “character” of the chord. I think a goal would be to recognize the cord in any inversion.
