One quality I so appreciate, and it's a rare one, in songs is B R E V I T Y ! Those who know my writing know that I often compose, then simply remove every other word. It's amazing just how many times you lose NOTHING in that process. And Nancy-Lu's ballad is a perfect example of that. Look at how many places she could have added more words, meter, etc. To me, the essence of the challenge of ballads is to tell the tale well, simply, and truly. "Cle Elum Girl" succeeds better than many. I would love to be able to find the author, if only to be able to thank her and to make certain her authorship is rewarded. Bob
