John Jackson was, as almost everyone writing above has pointed out, one of the sweetest, gentlest souls I've ever been privileged to know. Caroline and I were with him at a number of festivals over the years, and I was always moved by his thoughtful kindnesses to all around him. His music was wonderful, to be sure, but it was his loving spirit that I will cherish in my memory even more.
