When I was a kid (in early WW-II) my working-woman mother would often ask my (5 years older) brother and me, "What do you want for supper?"The answer often was "Spam and sweet potatoes!" Actually, it was 1/2 inch slices of Spam, fried, with warmed-up canned sweet potatoes, and with canned cranberry sauce.
Oh, the surpassingly great sauce it was served with: youthful appetite!
