It's hard to "make" people accept you, no matter who you are. If people won't accept you as yourself, then you're hanging with the wrong people.

One of my dearest friends is a queen-size lady, and has been that way as long as I've known her, which is going on 15 years. She makes an effort to eat good food, but doesn't really have any interest in decreasing her size. Nonetheless she is beautiful, and she loves life. I love her exactly like she is. And if one day she said, I'm going to lose 100 pounds, sure, I'd be behind her 100%. But I'm behind her 100% anyway, because she's my friend.

Only you can decide what you want to do. If you really don't like being 17 stone, then you're the only one who can do anything about it, but you have to want to. And if you don't want to right now, It's Okay!
