Thread Name: Contest! Why U don't want a Sork Dork CD
Subject: RE: Contest! Why U don't want a Sork Dork CD
Gee, Rick... I can't ever be mad at a fellow to broadcasts my rantings about Canadian treatment of Natives to a Canadian radio audience! Speaking of which, Yvette's Song? Played it in North Carolina, and believe it or not, there was a Montreal Radio host there, who KNEW Yvette Michele as well. For thouse who haven't heard the song... Yvette's song (on the CD winging its way to you...)is about the forced removal of Native children in the late fourties through the sixties, a forced assimilation process, now being replaced by destruction of native hunting land with similer results... So, Now Yvette's Song is getting air play in Montreal as well.
Tell ya what Rick, if some folks do feel called on to send a check made out to yours truely, (not the band, we're too poor to have a Sorcha Dorcha account) then a few more free CDs will be sent out, spreading the word that folk music CAN still be about what's happening today, not a hundred years ago! For you folk purests, our CD also has some songs from two hundred and even four hundred years ago as well, so don't panic and tell the post man to send back your CD unplayed!
Again thanks to all, the contest has been really fun, and for the late entries... don't give up hope. After I come back from the post office I am going to run the numbers on my future ability to feed Genie and the phone company, and most likely there will be a few more free CDs awarded early next week... so if you still have rotten things to say about the band... keep at it!
Affectionately yours,
Larry
