When shots are fired in a city center, with lots of tall buildings around, or inside a warehouse, airport terminal, shopping mall, or other large building, the shots can be heard clearly but there is never an echo. Consequently the hero is never confused about where the shots are coming from or how many people are shooting at him. (Conspiracy theorists take note.)
