There are so many tales that come back to me on discovering this thread. Many singers used these experiences to write their songs. Bill Staines, for one. So many of his songs are about being "on the road" Check out "Missouri Road Song" one of my favorites for long haul gig drives. I usually stuck to the traditional songs etc. But when I needed good songs about being on the road, all I had to do was take one of Bill's best ones and adopt it. Even adapt it.
