"Draft Dodger Rag" has long been one of my favourites, though I haven't sung it for a while until recently.I modified the last verse last tim I sang it. Instead of:
"I hate Chou en Lai, and I hope he dies" I sang:
"I hate Bin Laden, he's bad as Satan"
Which updates it a bit - I'm sure Phil wouldn't mind. I wish he were still with us, what would he have to say about the current situation? The thing about Phil that differentiates a lot of his material is his background as a journalist, I feel that it gave him an edge that no-one before or since has had.
My favourites? "A small circle of friends", "Pleasures of the Harbour", "Changes", "When I'm Gone", "There, but for fortune", "The Highwayman" - and so many more.
Thus primed, I might do a couple on PalTalk tonight!
