In reality, it was not her death (the dear old thing) but her long life which was the conspiracy. The palace just could not find a time when it would serve the interest of her nation for her to die, one thing and another came up, while she waited, often royaly board and not at all amused by the hijinks of her decendants, for an opportunity for her to slip away - waiting for a time when she might be mourned but not really inconvience anyone. At last a small window of opportunity was presented, and the old dear decided not to wait for the official OK, put duty aside and went looking for her husband.
