So, what's gnu? In the second-world War, over here, they called Germans Krauts, or Jerry's. Maybe that's where "Jerry-built" came from.. Go figure. I think people use the word Willie, because it rolls off the tongue... I've done it meself. Wrote a song with the first line, "Late last night when Uncle Willie came home." Try it with Bob, or Fred, or Maurice and it just doesn't flow...
