After the ball...

'Twas the week after Easter in Wythenshawe Hall,
Four and twenty kings and queens went to dance at the Ball.

High King Dave came rambling in, and stumbled over a chair,
He tumbled over Anne Boleyn, and her head flew through the air.

Saint George drew his mighty sword, but couldn't find a dragon,
Instead he gored a noble lord, and drank another flagon.

Harold fell down and broke his crown, till it was flat and narrow,
William picked it up and said, "Keep your eye upon that arrow!"

They were dancing in the hall, and drinking in the salon,
And many a glass was raised that night to Bob and Sue van Gaalen.

We cast sorrows away, and danced 'Strip the willow',
Gathered in a circle of friends until heads hit the pillow.
