Amergin, before I left Oregon to live in Alaska, for a number of years I made it a practice to buy a handful of lottery tickets for friends' birthdays. So far as I know, the most any of them ever won was $15 but the potential was there, so it was fun for us both.

Gotta admit it was difficult for me to refrain from opening them myself.

In Juneau we have 'pull tabs', whatever that is. I don't know how large the payoff can be.
