Thread Name: Help: DT/Forum search problems
Subject: RE: Help: DT/Forum search problems
Jim D., I sometimes type in Word and then cut and paste when I'm posting to a thread, but I've never done this when searching for a thread, so that's not been the problem for me in finding threads.

Again, Joe, I'm positive that I typed the thread title EXACTLY the same way when I got a "no match" reply as when I was led straight to the thread. Also, I tried single words [e.g., "Mum, " or "WTO"] and was told there were no matches, even though those words were part of the actual thread titles.

Please let me assure you that I did not start this thread in haste. I checked, re-checked, re-re-checked, re-re-re-checked, etc., first, to make sure I wasn't making some of the mistakes you folks have suggested. I started the thread only after determining that sometimes:
• the "filter" was telling me there was no match to actual word or phrase that IS in the title of an existing thread,
or • the same kind of thing happens when I use the DT/forum search.

I almost always try a search in various ways (filter, DT/forum search, etc.; key word search, key phrase search, etc.) before saying the attempt "didn't work." Yes it does work the vast majority of the time--but not always.

I'm not complaining, Joe. You Mudcat folks do a phenomenal job! I'm just giving you information on a problem that occurs sometimes.
