Thread Name: Lyr Req: Wine Wine Wine

According to AMG, "Wine, Wine, Wine" has been recorded by the Astronauts, Jimmy Binkley, the Classics 5, Commander Cody & The Lost Planet Airmen, Champion Jack Dupree, Bobby Fuller, the Lewallen Brothers, Bobby Osborne, the Outsiders, the Readymen, Freddie Roach, the Sir Douglas Quintet, Dale Watson, J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers, and the Yettimen. I didn't have the stamina to follow up all these leads. Maybe somebody else will. Authorship is credited to various people or nobody in particular, so it isn't clear whether these people all recorded the same song, different versions of the same song, or totally different songs that happened to have the same title.

Floyd Dixon recorded "Wine, Wine, Wine" in 1952. It has been re-released on the anthology "Jump Blue: Rockin' the Jooks," Blue Note CD #54364, 1999, and a couple of other CD's. Authorship is credited to "Davis/Dixon". A sound sample is available at http://www.emimusic.de/xml/7/3200467/8543642.html

"... tight, tight.
'Cause when I get it, feels so doggone fine."

The single "Wine, Wine, Wine" was a hit for the Nightcaps, and led to their releasing an LP called "Wine, Wine, Wine" in 1962. The album has been re-released as Collectables CD #5766, 1998. I transcribed this much from the sound sample at CDNOW:

"Drinkin' wine, wine, wine
A-drinkin' wine, wine, wine
A-drinkin' wine, wine, fine wine, all the time.

Now, Get it on, get it on, all night long,
Get it on, get it on, all night long
Drinkin' wine, wine, wine
A-drinkin' wine, wine, wine
A-drinkin' wine, wine, fine wine, all the time."
