One of my newer favorites is this ancient shanty that is an obvious precurser to a 1950's rock song; the chorus and first verse run something like this:

Chorus:

We've both been sound asleep – Umph!
Wake up, Susiana, and weep – Umph!
Blue Peter's flying, there's no denying,
We're in trouble deep!
Wake up, Susiana! – Umph!
Wake up, Susiana! – Umph!
We gotta ship out! (CHO)
