Thanks, Andres, I kinda expected that, it's the same story in a lot of places. So, what do you play?(assuming that you do) I once took a workshop in Chilean music at a music camp in N. California where I had a lot of fun learning to play charango(rather like the offspring of mandolin and a ukelele) and some kind of big whistle that looked like a bedpost and had a harsh breathy sound. The leaders were a couple and the male half of this couple played lots of other instruments including a set of two whistles designed to be played in pairs with 3 holes on one and(I think) 4 on the other. Anyway, he played 'em both together and a grand sound they made. They were little conical affairs like Clarke whistles.

I remember that I really liked the sounds and the feel of the music. The round woody sound and all those thirds was a real breath of fresh air.

'till next time, NS
