Subject: The Cumberland Crew
Really great civil war song about the union frigate that faced the C.S.S. Virginia (ex-U.S.S.Merrimac) the day before the U.S.S. Monitor arrived. " Oh shipmates come gather and join in my ditty, of a terrible battle that happened of late, the 8th day of March told a terrible story, in which many a brave man to this world bid adieu". As you might have guessed, they died to a man rather than surrender. Corny, but the accapello ending will make your hair stand on end. And I can't remember the last verse! Help! EwenOg.
