You're making me homesick! I spent my teen years in Virginia, in the rural area between Staunton and Waynesboro. I have visited since but it's been years.

We used to go to the Old Dominion Barndance in Richmond- in those days, Mac Wiseman, Rose Maddox and others were stalwarts there. Once a month we'd go to Harrisonburg to an all-night Gospel Sing.

Spent a lot of time on Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful country. We'd also go to the Luray Caverns ("Now I'm going to turn off the lights- and you will see what perfect black is. If it frightens you, just close your eyes."), and Crabtree Falls for hiking and picnicking.

The Statler Brothers, btw, are from Staunton, and I think, still live there.
