Traditionally, the names of the dwarves are unknown of course. Its just that Disney fella inventing stuff again. One of Peter and Iona Opie's books - perhaps the Language and Lore of Schoolchildren, but perhaps not - has a woodcut of the dwarves pre-Disney and they all have quite different names and characteristics. I'll try to dig it out over the weekend and give you a proper reference.
