A while back, there was a flick titled "The Long Riders." It was a tale about the James-Younger gang in the 1880's. The film was unique in that it cast brothers to play the parts of the brothers (James and Stacy Keach as the James brothers; David, Robert and Keith Carradine as the Younger brothers; Dennis and Randy Quaid as the Miller brothers; and the Guest brothers were then Fords). The soundtrack was composed, scored and performed by Ry Cooder and had a distinct mournful, sort of period feel that was enhanced by his choice of instrumentation.
The tape would be a worthwhile investment or at least a good rental from your local Blockbuster.
