Y'know, I learned this song at a Girl Scout Camp someplace in SE Michigan, I don't think it was Sherwood, but it might have been. It would have been, oh, about 40, 45 years ago, and I remember the line as "if Easter eggs don't shave their legs? as well.
I have the idea the tune might come from some piece of pop classical music: light italian opera or JP Sousa, or some such.
