Congratulations to Jimmy Carter - one of only two presidents in my lifetime I would want to share a railway carriage with on a long journey. Congratulations also to the Nobel Committee. Maybe they did themselves no favours, but they did the rest of us a favour by reminding us never to go to war lightly.
