I'll go along with that. I always loved him for telling Americans that they did not have the right to continue consumption of the world's oil supplies in over sized cars and for not posturing over the hostage crisis. He paid a heavy political price for both. He was playing the long game though - and he was right on both counts. Maybe he was a better man than a politician - but I think that is more a condemnation of the political scene than of Carter.
