Here's yet another version of the "wordy" translation, which is preferable in my not so humble opinion:

Indicate the route to my abode;
I'm fatigued and desire to retire.
I imbibed a small libation sixty minutes ago,
And it proceeded directly to my cerebellum.
Wheresoever I perambulate,
On soil or liquid or atmospheric vapor,
You'll perpetually perceive me intoning this melody:
Indicate the route to my abode!
