I don't know about that Glade. The Iranians were in breach of international law and occuppying what was legally American territory at the time. Carter was quite justified in using military force for the limited objective. I felt rather that the military incompetence - for which he rightly accepted the rap - was to blame. My father was the engineering officer on a Royal Navy aircraft carrier in the sixties. He assured me that if he had dared to send helicopters into desert combat without sand filters, they would have hanged him from the yardarm!
