And Kaleea, my phone number (in Philadelphia) was DE2-9220, that is, DEvonshire 2-9220. My grandmother's was PI4-0981 (PIoneer), but my other grandmother's was PI2-9216 (PIlgrim--go figure). In the northeast section of the city we also had MAyfair 4, FIdelity 2, and I forget the others. It wasn't until about 1969, I believe, that people started using just numbers.
