Jingles, played by Andy Devine, was Wild Bill Hickok's side kick. He waddle down the street whining "Wait foe meeeee, Wahld Beeeyul!". Their sponsor was some sugar-coated breakfast cereal -- puffed corn, I think. Sugar Pops!!

Other famous side kicks from those early years include Gabby Hayes (whose was he -- maybe Gene Autry ?) and Pat Brady, whose Jeep Nellybelle was always being told, "Whoaaaaaa, Nellybelle!", in support of the Roy Rogers show. Don't remember their sponsor.

Then there was game-legged Chester who limped alongside of Marshall Dillon, discussing Miss Kitty's virtues.
