By the way, I might mention that there are a certain number of US Customs officials who are little closet Hitlers with a sadistic desire to terrorize and dominate people. Their uniform gives them the authority to do it with impunity. I can recount numerous horror stories of unbelievable treatment meted out to totally harmless and innocent people I have known who were attempting to cross the border.

And guess what...Canadian Customs officials are equally bad in this respect, and always have been.

I think it's a job that either attracts...or helps to create...this type of abusive personality.
