The thread that wouldn't die! Well, we did all have a great time, and we do want to help Steve and Sharon do their move, and maybe even find them a new home where we can hang out in the style we'd like to become accustomed to. Much as I love our sea songs, I also like to sing a few other songs but I would urge people to try to find some "public" space, so that "new" people feel welcome to drop in. Private homes and church spaces in my experience don't do that, although they can be an important retreat.

Of course, the downside of any "public" space you find is that it's bound to be a marginal one, doomed to go belly up once infiltrated with the breath of folkies. Do you really want to know how many business owners actually DIED while they hosted Portland Folk Club events? How many fled to Miami to escape our death aura? I can give you names and dates and maybe even a song...Just be warned. This is not something you should be commiting yourselves to lightly. Before I post this I probably should be more sober.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
